EV Chargepoint Grants
Supporting eligible households with convenient home EV charging
Government support is available for some households towards the cost of installing an electric vehicle chargepoint. Current grants include support for eligible renters and people who own and live in a flat, as well as a separate grant for households with on-street parking that install an approved cross-pavement charging solution.
Eligible renters and flat owners can currently receive up to £500 towards the cost of installing an EV chargepoint. Applicants must meet the scheme criteria, including having an eligible vehicle and appropriate private off-street parking. Owner-occupiers of ordinary houses with private driveways are not eligible for the renters and flat owners grant.

Charging at home can be convenient and may allow you to benefit from lower off-peak electricity prices where your electricity tariff offers cheaper rates at certain times. Actual charging costs depend on your tariff, vehicle and charging pattern.
How do I apply for an EV chargepoint grant?
A simple guide for eligible renters and flat owners
Step 1: Check your eligibility
The current EV chargepoint grant is available to eligible people who either rent and live in a residential property or own and live in a flat. You must also have access to private off-street parking and own or use an eligible electric vehicle.
Step 2: Choose an OZEV-authorised installer
Contact an OZEV-authorised installer, such as Renewable Energy Management, to discuss your installation and obtain a quote.
Step 3: Gather the required documents and permissions
You may need documents such as your installer’s quote and written permission from your landlord, freeholder or property manager where applicable.
Step 4: Complete the online application
Eligible customers apply for the grant through the government’s online application service. If the application is successful, both the customer and installer are notified with the next steps.
Step 5: Installation and grant claim
Once the requirements of the scheme have been met, the authorised installer can complete the installation and follow the government process to claim the grant.
Current grant: Eligible renters and flat owners can receive up to £500 towards the cost of installing an EV chargepoint. The current grant arrangements run until 31 March 2027.
